Trump: DOGE Might Eat Elon

Former President Trump intensified his feud with Elon Musk amid fierce debate over his massive tax-and-spending package, dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Trump threatened to deploy the Department of Government Efficiency, nicknamed DOGE, to investigate and even go as far as “eat Elon,” a colorful warning that Musk’s companies could face serious scrutiny.

“DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies. But, Elon was very upset that the EV mandate is going to be terminated,” Trump shared before he departed for the Florida Everglades Tuesday morning.

“I think what’s gonna happen is, DOGE is gonna look at Musk… And if DOGE looks at Musk, we’re gonna save a fortune. Thank you very much, everybody. I don’t think he should be playing that game with me,” Trump went on to add.

When pressed on whether he would consider deporting Musk, Trump dodged a direct answer but said, “We’ll have to take a look,” signaling that nothing is off the table when it comes to Musk’s opposition.

The president mocked Musk’s heavy reliance on government subsidies, primarily for electric vehicles, and suggested that without them, Musk might be forced to shut down key parts of Tesla and SpaceX and even “head back home to South Africa.”

Elon posted on X, “So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now,” in response to a video of Trump’s Tuesday morning remarks.

Musk, recently distancing himself from the administration and labeling the GOP’s massive spending bill as the “PORKY PIG PARTY,” has threatened to fund primary challenges against lawmakers supporting the legislation. He has also floated the potential launch of a new “America Party.”
