Elon Musk Threatens GOP: Support Trump’s Bill, Lose Your Seat

Elon Musk is warning Republican lawmakers that backing President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” will cost them their political futures. The bill, which extends Trump-era tax cuts and cuts renewable energy credits, passed an initial Senate vote 51–49. Musk sharply criticized the bill as “utterly insane and destructive,” claiming it will increase the national debt by trillions while damaging future-focused industries like clean energy and AI.

The proposed legislation would reduce renewable energy tax incentives, eliminate electric vehicle subsidies, and boost support for fossil fuels. Musk, whose companies rely on innovation and clean tech, accused Republicans of betraying conservative principles of limited government and free markets. He vowed to personally campaign against every GOP member who supports the bill in the primaries, calling it “the biggest debt increase in U.S. history.”

Despite GOP leadership backing the bill, some Republicans have expressed concern over its long-term fiscal impact. Musk’s criticism adds pressure from the right, complicating efforts to present a unified front before the July 4 vote. Critics say the bill favors legacy industries while hindering economic innovation and job growth.
