Brian Johnson, the controversial fitness influencer known as the “Liver King,” was arrested on Tuesday, June 25, in Austin, Texas, after allegedly posting a series of threatening messages directed at podcast host Joe Rogan. Austin Police confirmed Johnson’s arrest and charged him with making a terroristic threat.
According to police, Johnson traveled to Austin and stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel, where he was arrested following a disturbing string of videos posted to Instagram. In the posts, Johnson directly challenged Rogan to a fight, stating, “Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out… I’m picking a fight with you. Your rules, I’ll come to you, whenever you’re ready.”
Officers contacted Rogan, who confirmed he had never interacted with Johnson and felt threatened by the unsolicited challenge. Rogan, a black belt in jiu-jitsu, was reportedly concerned for his safety given Johnson’s actions and his presence in the city.
Johnson rose to online fame during the pandemic by promoting an “ancestral lifestyle” involving raw meat consumption, particularly liver, claiming various health benefits. Medical experts have debunked his claims, and no health agency supports raw meat diets. In 2022, Johnson admitted to using steroids after leaked emails contradicted his previous denials. He later faced a $25 million class action lawsuit over false advertising, which was dismissed in March 2023.
The influencer’s arrest further tarnishes his already controversial image and raises concerns about the influence of aggressive and erratic behavior among online personalities.
Police stated the investigation remains ongoing. Representatives for both Johnson and Rogan have not issued public comments.
