Noem emphasized that the mission begins with threat detection at home. “My responsibility is to secure the homeland… to make sure that we’re identifying threats that may be here,” she told reporters. She added that her team works closely with local governors and law enforcement to monitor suspicious activities. While Noem confirmed no immediate threats have been identified, she said she was headed to an intelligence briefing to stay updated.
In a Saturday night post on X, following President Trump’s national address, Noem relayed a message of reassurance and patriotism to Americans. “I would tell the people that live in this country to be grateful that they woke up this morning in the United States of America,” she wrote. She praised U.S. freedom and liberty, noting that these values prompted Trump’s targeted actions against Iran’s nuclear capabilities—an effort she described as “non‑negotiable.”
Noem reaffirmed confidence in America’s leadership role. “That was something… to take out the potential for that nuclear weapon to be utilized,” she said of the U.S. strikes. “We are leading the world… as long as we still have strong leadership like President Trump’s.”
Her statements follow a coordinated missile attack by Iran on the Al‑Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The Qatari Foreign Ministry confirmed the missiles were intercepted by local air defenses and labeled the strike a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty” of Qatar. It warned that Doha reserves the right to respond proportionally under international law while emphasizing that “dialogue is the only way to overcome the current crises and ensure the security of the region and the peace of its people.”
