Police in Plymouth Township, Pennsylvania, are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects involved in a dangerous illegal street takeover that unfolded Sunday night at a busy intersection. The event is being compared to lawless scenes in Democrat-run cities like Oakland and Kansas City.
The takeover occurred at the intersection of Ridge Pike, Chemical Road, and North Lane, where crowds gathered as vehicles blocked roads, ignited fireworks, and performed reckless stunts. Plymouth Township Police said surveillance footage showed spectators encircling the area while several vehicles spun in the intersection—some with passengers dangerously hanging out.
Authorities estimate between 50 and 100 people watched the incident unfold. The crowd and vehicles fled when officers arrived. No arrests have been announced as of yet.
“This is the latest example of a growing trend of urban-style lawlessness making its way into suburban communities,” a police spokesperson said.
The incident follows similar takeovers across the country, particularly in Democrat-led cities. In Oakland, California, a street takeover the same day left one person critically injured and multiple vehicles set ablaze. Fireworks were thrown from moving cars, and a spray-painted Chevy Camaro was set on fire and exploded.
In Kansas City, Missouri, business owners and residents are increasingly vocal about the unchecked rise in illegal street racing and reckless driving. “This isn’t a race issue, this isn’t a political issue, this is a safety issue,” said business owner David Lopez, who noted his family has operated a business in the area for over four decades.
Frustrated business owners are blaming Mayor Quinton Lucas and a weakened law enforcement presence for making the city unsafe. Similar concerns are now echoing in suburbs like Plymouth Township, where the latest takeover has shocked residents and law enforcement.
Police are urging anyone with information or video footage of the Plymouth Township incident to contact local authorities immediately.
