Greene Opposes U.S. Role, ‘Not America First’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) denounced U.S. intervention in the escalating Israel-Iran conflict in a pointed statement on social media, calling out fellow Republicans and media voices pushing for American military involvement. Labeling them as “disgusting” and “fake MAGA,” Greene affirmed that true America First conservatives reject another foreign war.

In a series of posts on Sunday night, Greene declared, “Anyone slobbering for the U.S. to become fully involved in the Israel/Iran war is not America First/MAGA.” She emphasized her support for American troops serving at home, saying, “We love our U.S. military… helping to secure our borders and our cities for the defense of OUR PEOPLE AND OUR COUNTRY.”

Greene’s remarks come as Iranian strikes on Israel killed at least 10 people over the weekend. Israel’s counterattacks have left 224 dead in Iran, with over 1,200 reported injured—most of them civilians, according to Iranian authorities and the Associated Press.

Despite the rising toll, Greene remained firmly opposed to U.S. engagement, warning, “This war will quickly engulf the Middle East, BRICS, and NATO as countries are required to take a side.” She highlighted the trillions already spent in past Middle Eastern conflicts and the devastating human toll on American soldiers, including “blown apart bodies, never ending suicides, and disabling PTSD.”

Addressing critics, Greene stated her position is not antisemitic or isolationist but rooted in rationality and a desire for peace. She added that her views align with the economic priorities voted for by Americans in 2024: strong national borders, domestic prosperity, and peace through strength.

Greene also took aim at decades-long warnings about Iran’s nuclear capabilities. “Last week they said Iran was ‘days away from a nuclear bomb.’ Well it’s been ‘days’ now,” she said, criticizing what she called fear-based foreign policy.

Her message struck a sharp contrast with hawkish voices in Washington calling for a more aggressive U.S. role. Greene, however, maintains that true MAGA conservatism prioritizes peace, national sovereignty, and fiscal responsibility over costly foreign entanglements.
