A political action committee linked to leftist George Soros aims to turn Texas blue.
The Texas Majority PAC, alongside the Texas Democratic Party, has launched the “Blue Texas” initiative in an effort to elect Democrats across the state.
“We’re building on years of work to run the largest Democratic voter mobilization program in Texas history,” said Katherine Fischer, Director of Texas Majority PAC. “We’re combining deep experience, local leadership, and significant statewide investment to meet this moment. With Trump back in the White House and Ken Paxton dragging down the GOP ticket, we have a massive opportunity to win in 2026. Our efforts this cycle are aimed at winning in the short-term, and making Texas a true battleground state in the long term.”
Kendall Scudder, Chairman of Texas Democratic Party, stated, “We are excited to partner with TMP on a statewide organizing program that will ensure Democrats compete everywhere. History has shown, when Texas Democrats unite, we win.”
The initiative seeks to facilitate volunteer organizing, rallies in numerous counties, and candidate recruitment through its “Turn Texas Blue Tour” to ensure “Republicans face challengers in every district,” the Texas Democratic Party said. The project is intended to continue “beyond 2026, supporting campaigns, training local staff, and strengthening the Democratic Party and progressive politics across Texas.”
The PAC has launched similar efforts in previous years.
In the 2024 election cycle, Texas Majority, the state’s Democratic Party, and the Blue Texas alliance spent about $35 million in efforts to turn the state blue, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Soros donated $2.1 million to Texas Majority in 2024 and $1 million in April, the report noted.
