Millions of Dollars in Taxpayer-Funded Grants Went to Soros-Linked Groups

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) revealed that millions of dollars were funneled into George Soros-backed entities under the Biden Department of Justice.

The Biden-era DOJ issued grants to the Vera Institute of Justice and Impact Justice, Soros-backed non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The Trump DOJ has since terminated the grants in line with the administration’s priority to “support law enforcement operations, combat violent crime, protect American children, support American victims of trafficking and sexual assault, and enhance coordination among law enforcement at all levels of government,” the Justice Department told Grassley in a letter.

Grassley’s report on the matter “details Vera’s connections to George Soros and the support Vera gave to Soros-backed district attorneys as they redesigned their offices around lenient progressive prosecution policies,” a letter to readers says. “These policies placed crime victims last and were voted out of office with the Biden-Harris Administration. Similarly, training materials produced by Impact Justice advocated for far-leaning progressive reforms peppered throughout what should have been routine safety training courses.”

Impact Justice and the affiliated Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Resource Center received $7.45 million under the Biden administration. While it claims to “help combat sexual abuse in prisons,” Grassley’s office said, auditors “routinely failed to uncover pervasive sexual abuse” and encouraged the placement of transgender inmates in women’s prisons.

“The Biden-Harris administration awarded millions of taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars to advance left-leaning agendas that ultimately put lives at risk. The American people overwhelmingly rejected these soft-on-crime, defund-the-police policies in the last election because they undermined the safety and security of their communities,” Grassley said in a statement. “Organizations like the Vera Institute and Impact Justice that promote radical ideology have no business collecting another dime from the federal treasury. Americans are safer without their influence in the criminal justice system.”
