Trump Admin Responds to Israeli Diplomats Murdered Outside Jewish Museum

Two Israeli embassy staffers were fatally shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on May 21, 2025. The victims, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were leaving an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee when they were attacked. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, was apprehended at the scene after reportedly shouting “Free, free Palestine!”

Rodriguez, who has no prior criminal record, is alleged to have approached a group of four individuals outside the museum and opened fire, killing Lischinsky and Milgrim, who were a couple planning to become engaged. After the shooting, Rodriguez entered the museum and was detained by security personnel.

The FBI is investigating the incident as a potential hate crime and act of targeted violence. Authorities are examining a manifesto allegedly posted online by Rodriguez, which includes anti-Israel rhetoric and references to the Gaza conflict.

President Donald Trump condemned the attack, stating, “These horrible D.C. killings, based obviously on antisemitism, must end, NOW! Hatred and Radicalism have no place in the USA. Condolences to the families of the victims. So sad that such things as this can happen! God Bless You ALL!”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other global leaders also denounced the killings and called for justice.

White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, also stated, “Hatred has no place in the United States of America under President Donald Trump. Everyone here at the white House is praying for the victims, friends and families during this unimaginable time.”

The tragic event has heightened concerns about rising antisemitism and the safety of Jewish communities worldwide. Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter described the victims as “our friends and colleagues” and expressed deep sorrow over their loss.
