Samaritan’s Purse Leads Tornado Relief After Deadly Storms

Communities in Kentucky and Missouri are receiving critical aid following deadly tornadoes that killed 28 people and destroyed thousands of homes. Reverend Franklin Graham announced that Samaritan’s Purse disaster relief teams are now on the ground, offering help and spiritual support to those affected.

Severe storms swept through the region over the weekend, devastating towns like London, Kentucky, and parts of St. Louis, Missouri. Entire neighborhoods were flattened, leaving residents with nothing but debris. Over 5,000 homes were damaged in Missouri alone, while Kentucky bore the brunt of the loss of life.

Samaritan’s Purse teams arrived with emergency tools and equipment, setting to work immediately. Volunteers began clearing debris, tarping roofs, and helping families recover what little they could. Franklin Graham praised the volunteers for serving “in Jesus’ Name,” and reminded Americans to lift up the victims in prayer, quoting Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Military personnel and first responders have also joined efforts to search for survivors and begin the long cleanup. Aerial footage of London shows widespread destruction—buildings leveled, trees uprooted, and streets lined with rubble. The recovery process will be long and painful, but communities are not alone.

Graham emphasized that the help being provided is both physical and spiritual. The goal is not just to rebuild homes, but to restore hope. As families grieve and begin to pick up the pieces, the presence of faith-based aid offers a powerful reminder that they are not forgotten.

In addition to physical recovery efforts, Samaritan’s Purse chaplains are on-site offering spiritual counseling and prayer. These teams play a crucial role in comforting families who have lost loved ones or homes, providing emotional and spiritual support amid overwhelming loss. Their presence reminds survivors that they are not facing this tragedy alone and that the Christian community stands ready to walk alongside them in their time of need.
