Whoopi Goldberg claimed Monday that former President Joe Biden would have immediately disclosed his advanced prostate cancer diagnosis if he were still in office. Her remarks aired on “The View,” following Biden’s public confirmation of having an aggressive form of the disease that has spread to his bones.
“There’s no way that you wouldn’t have known,” Goldberg insisted, adding that Biden “would’ve had to have these treatments” and would not have hidden his illness.
However, medical experts have stated that Biden has likely been living with prostate cancer for years, including during his presidency. Oncologist Ezekiel Emanuel said on MSNBC that Biden’s condition indicates a long-term illness—possibly extending over a decade.
Fox News medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel said Sunday he was “taken aback” by how advanced the cancer is, considering Biden’s access to top-tier healthcare. Siegel noted that such a diagnosis would not develop overnight, raising questions about how long Biden and his team have known.
White House officials, including former press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, repeatedly told the public that Biden was in “good health.” Despite this, the upcoming book Original Sin by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson reveals efforts by Biden’s aides to obscure signs of his deteriorating condition.
The book documents how aides used a foot fracture as an excuse for Biden’s unstable gait and avoided wheelchair use, despite warnings from his physician. The report also exposes how staff limited Biden’s exposure to the press and reduced his number of public appearances.
Biden’s frailty became increasingly apparent after a poor showing at the June 2024 presidential debate. Following the debate, Democrats pressured him to drop out of the race, while media allies dismissed concerns as mere symptoms of a cold or a long-standing stutter.
Tapper and Thompson’s reporting confirms that key members of the press and political establishment helped shield Biden’s condition from the public in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
