A record-breaking 7,750 people made a public profession of faith in God during a massive baptism event Saturday in Huntington Beach, California. The “Baptize California” movement, now in its second year, drew thousands to the beach to participate in what organizers are calling the largest single-day baptism in U.S. history.
The event featured baptisms in the Pacific Ocean and in portable baptistries, accompanied by worship music, prayer, and testimonies of transformed lives. Last year’s gathering saw 6,000 baptized, but this year surpassed that figure by nearly 2,000. Organizers believe the movement is part of a growing spiritual awakening across America.
The June 8 follow-up event promises to continue the message that “God is not done with America.” The Baptize California team described the moment as a fulfillment of the Great Commission, uniting believers from churches nationwide. Footage from the day showed worshippers celebrating, praying, and shouting, “We’re getting baptized!” as they entered the water.
Recording artist and worship leader Sean Feucht, who has been central to public worship events since 2020, shared images online and said, “Revival is taking over Huntington Beach.” He pointed out that this movement from California, often viewed as a cultural battleground, is now producing a wave of revival for the nation to witness.
Baptism, understood in the Christian faith as a symbol of death to sin and resurrection in Christ, played a central role in the day’s activities. Attendees raised their hands, worshipped together, and proclaimed faith in Jesus Christ.
“This is the greatest feeling, coming up out of the water. The new beginning starts today,” one man said.
Organizers emphasized the event was not affiliated with a single church or denomination but was about national unity through faith. Their message remains clear: revival is not coming—it is already here.
