Federal authorities have apprehended Harpreet Singh, an illegal immigrant from India, in Sacramento, California. Singh is wanted in India for his alleged involvement in multiple terrorist activities, including grenade attacks on police stations in Punjab. He is reportedly associated with Pakistan-backed Khalistani terrorist groups.
Singh entered the U.S. illegally through Mexico and had been evading capture by using untraceable burner phones and encrypted applications. The FBI’s Sacramento field office, in coordination with Indian authorities, arrested Singh on April 18, 2025. He is believed to be a key operative of Babbar Khalsa International and a close associate of Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda.
The Sacramento’s FBI division shared the following statement on Facebook:
“Harpreet Singh, an alleged terrorist who had illegally entered the U.S., was arrested by the FBI & ERO in Sacramento. Agents from the FBI’s Legal Attaché office in New Delhi, India, informed Sacramento that Singh was wanted in connection with multiple terror attacks across Punjab, India. Singh is suspected to have collaborated with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). He had been evading capture by using untraceable burner phones and encrypted applications. This case reinforces the importance of international cooperation in apprehending those who threaten global security.”
FBI Director Kash Patel stated that Singh was involved in planning attacks on police stations in both India and the United States.
Patel also took to social media, sharing on X, “CAPTURED: HARPREET SINGH, part of an alleged foreign terrorist gang here illegally in the United States, who we believe was involved in planning multiple attacks on police stations both in India and the United States.”
Indian authorities had announced a cash reward for Singh’s capture, citing his role in orchestrating targeted killings, grenade attacks, and extortion activities. His arrest marks a significant milestone in the crackdown on ISI-backed terror networks.
