President Donald Trump has called on the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene following a series of federal court decisions that have impeded his administration’s policies. Trump expressed frustration on Truth Social, labeling the judges responsible as “lunatics” and emphasizing the need for the Supreme Court to address these judicial obstructions.
Trump’s social post read: “Unlawful Nationwide Injunctions by Radical Left Judges could very well lead to the destruction of our Country! These people are Lunatics, who do not care, even a little bit, about the repercussions from their very dangerous and incorrect Decisions and Rulings.”
One notable instance prompting Trump’s reaction is the temporary restraining order issued by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg. This order halted the administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport Venezuelan nationals, including alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang, for a 14-day period. Judge Boasberg sided with plaintiffs, including the ACLU, stating that the deportations could cause “irreparable” harm.
The administration’s deportation efforts continued despite the court’s order, leading to further legal confrontations. Judge Boasberg criticized the administration for missing a court deadline to disclose details on deportation flights, escalating tensions between the executive branch and the judiciary.
In response to these judicial interventions, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt accused federal judges of partisanship, urging the Supreme Court to rein in what the administration perceives as activist rulings blocking the president’s agenda.
The administration’s legal challenges extend beyond immigration policies. Federal judges have also blocked executive orders aimed at dismantling the Department of Education and banning transgender individuals from military service, among other initiatives.
