Trump Administration Releases Final JFK Assassination Files

On Tuesday, the National Archives released the final batch of records related to President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, fulfilling President Donald Trump’s executive order from January 23, 2025.

The National Archives stated on its website: “In accordance with President Donald Trump’s directive… all records previously withheld for classification that are part of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection are released.”

This release includes approximately 80,000 pages of previously classified documents, now accessible to the public. The records encompass files from the Warren Commission, tasked with investigating the 1963 assassination, and other intelligence reports.

The Warren Commission concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in assassinating President Kennedy. However, the prolonged withholding of certain documents has fueled various conspiracy theories over the decades.

Historians and experts anticipate that these newly released files are unlikely to contain groundbreaking revelations. Instead, they are expected to provide deeper insights into the intelligence operations and geopolitical climate of the early 1960s.

The National Archives has made these documents available online and at its College Park, Maryland, location. As digitization progresses, more files will be accessible through their official website.
