The Georgia Republican Party’s State Executive Committee voted unanimously to ban former Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan from associating with the party.
The resolution accuses Duncan of undermining Republican candidates, supporting Democrats, and using his Republican association for personal gain.
“Geoff Duncan is hereby expelled from the Georgia Republican Party,” the resolution says, declaring that he is “banned from qualifying as a candidate of the Georgia Republican Party.” The resolution notes that his nomination as the Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor is “expunged.”
Duncan is further ordered to stop labeling himself as a “Republican” and is “banned from all property owned or leased by the Georgia Republican Party and all events held by or under the authority of the Georgia Republican Party.”
According to the resolution, Duncan “sought openly to undermine and sabotage the candidacy of Burt Jones, the Republican nominee to succeed him as Lieutenant Governor” and sabotaged the “candidacy of Herschel Walker, the Republican nominee for United States Senate” by discouraging Republicans from voting for him. Duncan instead supported the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor and Democrat Raphael Warnock.
The resolution goes on to note Duncan’s endorsements of both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. It condemns Duncan’s appearances at Democratic campaign events while acting as a “Republican for Harris.”
Duncan said of the resolution on X, “Hard to believe this is a good use of time for a party that’s only got a limited amount of time to figure out mass deportations, world peace and global tariffs. Learn how to take a victory lap not light another dumpster fire @JoshMcKoon.”
