Sizzling Critiques: McDonald’s Staff Respond to Trump’s Culinary Attempt

Former President Donald Trump spent part of his Sunday afternoon at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, mainly to poke fun at Vice President Kamala Harris. However, The New York Times also got caught up in this and hasn’t been able to let it go.

On Monday, the Times published an article titled “Trump Took a Turn at the Fryer. McDonald’s Workers Have Thoughts.”

“After Donald J. Trump served fast food during a campaign stop at a McDonald’s,” the sub-headline read, “Several workers said the candidate showed a willingness to learn but should stick to his day job.”

“He doesn’t seem to know how to do it.”

The Times interviewed several McDonald’s staffers who noted that “right away” something seemed off about Trump’s performance.

“The box is, like, backwards,” remarked David Ye, a three-year employee from a McDonald’s in Lower Manhattan. “He doesn’t seem to know how to do it.”

Another employee expressed concern after seeing Trump humorously toss a pinch of salt over his shoulder when he spilled some. Kishia, a manager at a McDonald’s in Flatbush, stated, “You don’t throw salt like that. Somebody could have been behind him, you know?”

A cashier from a McDonald’s in Queens voiced her disapproval of the campaign stop altogether, arguing that it undermined her daily work.

“How many days are they gonna drag this out? Why do they keep playing into his hands?” Jon Gabriel questioned. “I know they’re the smartest people ever to have lived. They wear glasses, nod thoughtfully. They must have a good reason.”

“Oh no, Trump will never get promoted to shift manager now,” another commenter said.

“One of Trump’s superpowers is his ability to make his enemies twist and deform themselves in reaction to anything he does. They can’t help it. Even performing a task as simple as cooking some french fries sends them into fits of hysterical rage,” Logan Hall noted.
