A new report from the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) lists fifty threats to election integrity ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election.
Some of the threats listed in the report include dark money sources, lawfare, “Get Out the Vote” operations, voter fraud, and so-called “technical difficulties.”
The greatest risk to this election cycle, the report explains, is the “likelihood that non-citizens will find their way onto the voter rolls and into the voting booth.”
“Each swing state has taken in more non-citizens than the 2020 margin of victory in that state,” the report says. “And there is good reason to believe a significant portion will be able to vote in 2024.” Arizona and Michigan have seen more than a 700% increase in the number of new non-citizens since 2021.
Under the “Dark Money & Foreign Influence” category, the report lists Zuckerbucks, the Intelligence Community, foreign sources, and Hatch Act violations as threats to the quickly approaching election.
“Unelected bureaucrats and intelligence operatives can sway an election,” GAI writes, adding, “The FBI has already signaled a reprise of ‘Russian influence’ operations targeting the 2024 election.”
Describing lawfare operations, the report lists George Soros and Mark Zuckerberg as having “waged lawfare against their political opponents during the last three presidential election cycles.” The report details how Soros funded efforts for the now-debunked “Steele dossier” among other lawfare incidents.
GAI notes that recent impeachment trials and lawsuits targeting former President Donald Trump have been rooted in “vague” charges. “The Department of Justice has led these suits, thereby tainting its departmental mission by using taxpayer funds to wage lawfare against an opponent of the sitting administration,” the organization says in the report.
The report also urges Americans to be aware of attempts to manipulate ballots, citing the removal of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Machado from the country’s ballot.
“Americans should be wary of similar attempts in the US, especially considering recent events where one candidate faced removal from ballots in several states based on a 14th Amendment clause putatively related to insurrection before such attempts were stifled by the Supreme Court,” the report warns. “This raises concerns about state control over federal elections and the potential for retaliatory disqualifications.”
GAI goes on to discuss the attacks on free speech, which it says should be “challenged and litigated all the way to the Supreme Court.”
The report also highlights the left-wing belief that U.S. voting systems do not need voter verifications. “Efforts to compromise election integrity are often organized, coordinated, and very well-funded,” GAI writes. “Some groups, such as the left-leaning Brennan Center, oppose reforms such as proof of citizenship, voter ID, hand-marked paper ballots, and same-day voting, on the grounds they would fall disproportionately on Americans of color.’ Itβs unclear how, since a social security card is issued to every American at birth for free and can be easily replaced.” The group again urges Americans to become “more aware of how insecure our elections have become and demand change. Some of these issues could be fixed overnight if only our elected officials had the political will to act.”
Although the GAI’s report concludes by stating that U.S. elections are “totally insecure,” the organization emphasizes that Americans can fix the system by getting involved in election processes.
