Owner of Time Magazine Slams Kamala Harris for Refusing Requests for Interviews

Since acquiring Time magazine in 2018, Marc Benioff has publicly criticized Kamala Harris for her refusal to grant interview requests. He highlighted this refusal by comparing it to President Trump’s readiness to engage with Time reporters for extensive interviews on two occasions, each lasting 90 minutes.

Via a post on X, Benioff expressed his concern, “Despite multiple requests, TIME has not been granted an interview with Kamala Harris—unlike every other Presidential candidate. We believe in transparency and publish each interview in full. Why isn’t the Vice President engaging with the public on the same level?”

He further emphasized, “Harris declined repeated requests for an interview for this story. In contrast, Trump talked about his policy vision with a TIME reporter for 90 minutes across two interviews. Biden spoke to TIME at similar length before dropping out of the race.”

The critique from Benioff seems somewhat insincere given Time’s generally favorable portrayal of Harris.

Despite her reluctance to participate in a direct interview, Time nonetheless featured an article detailing her “vision.”

Harris has pointedly criticized President Trump for what she terms a “basement campaign,” questioning, “Why does his staff want him to hide away,” she asks. “Are they afraid people will see he’s too weak and unstable?”

She mockingly suggests that Trump is avoiding public campaigning, a claim she makes despite her own and Tim Walz’s limited media appearances.

CNN pushed Harris’s spokesperson, Adrienne Elrod, for explanations about the Vice President’s lack of media engagement in August.

An Axios piece titled “The Harris-Walz media strategy: Hide from the press,” indicates that the Harris-Walz duo is likely to set a record for the least amount of press interactions by any major party’s presidential team in recent history.
