Vice President Kamala Harris said during her interview with “60 Minutes” that she owns a Glock.
“I have a Glock,” Harris said.
Host Bill Whitaker then asked the vice president, “Have you ever fired it?”
“Yes. Of course I have,” she responded, laughing.
Despite claiming she owns a Glock handgun, Harris supported Proposition H, a measure banning handguns in San Francisco, in 2005.
Harris’ campaign website states that she would ban “assault weapons and high-capacity magazines” if she becomes president.
Possessing a standard Glock magazine is considered a misdemeanor in the state of California, as the pistols commonly hold more than 10 rounds.
A 2001 California law declared that “no handgun may be manufactured within California, imported into California for sale, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered/exposed for sale unless that handgun model has passed firing, safety, and drop tests and is certified for sale in California by the Department of Justice,” according to a page on the state’s attorney general website.
Harris is considered exempt from the law as a law enforcement officer.
