Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is using an advisor for the U.K. Labour Party in her campaign, according to a report from Politico.
Deborah Mattinson, a leading advisor to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, will reportedly travel to Washington D.C. to meet with the Harris-Walz campaign.
Mattinson is expected to explain to the campaign her strategy behind the Labour Party’s success.
According to one of Mattinson’s former colleagues, the advisor is looking to win swing states for Harris.
Politico reported that the alleged collaboration between Harris and Mattinson is “just one strand in a growing transatlantic network of center-left think tanks and political operatives shaping policy and political messaging in Washington and London.”
The Labour Party’s former digital director, Matthew McGregor, believes the Democrats feel they can learn and grasp strategies from the Labour Party.
“Labour is one of the only Western parties that have recently won, or look likely to win, from the center left,” McGregor told the outlet. “For Democrats following British politics, they have been intrigued by the speed [with] which Labour has gone from the Corbyn days to being in power now. It’s really got people’s attention.”
