Harris Formally Accepts Democratic Nomination for President

Vice President Kamala Harris has officially accepted the Democratic presidential nomination.

“On behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on Earth, I accept your nomination for president of the United States,” she said.

She added that if she becomes U.S. President, she will lead with “common sense.”

“I know there are people of various political views watching tonight,” she said. “And I want you to know: I promise to be a president for all Americans.”

“I will be a president who unites us around our highest aspirations,” Harris declared. “A president who leads — and listens. Who is realistic. Practical. And has common sense. And always fights for the American people.”

The speech did not highlight Harris’ policy positions. Instead, she used her speech to blast Donald Trump.

“In many ways, Donald Trump is an unserious man,” she said, calling the “consequences” of another Trump presidency “extremely serious.”

According to Harris, Trump will “set free violent extremists” and will “jail journalists” and “political opponents.”

At another point in the speech, Harris declared that she would restore so-called reproductive “rights.”

“And when Congress passes a bill to restore reproductive freedom, as President of the United States, I will proudly sign it into law,” she declared.

The camera then panned to several audience members, including a sleeping baby.

Trump condemned Harris’ speech, writing on Truth Social: “She’s done nothing for three and a half years but talk, and that’s what she’s doing tonight, she’s complaining about everything but doing nothing! She should leave the Speech right now, go to Washington, D.C., close the Border, allow fracking in Pennsylvania and other places, and start doing the things she’s complaining about aren’t done!”
