FBI Investigates DNC Food Contaminated with Bugs

The FBI and Chicago police are investigating reports of maggots being placed in the breakfasts for DNC delegates.

It is unknown if the contamination was discovered before any delegates consumed the breakfast.

“Multiple unknown female offenders are alleged to have entered a building (200 block of North Columbus Drive) and began placing unknown objects onto tables containing food,” law enforcement said. “The offenders are believed to have then left the area. One victim was treated and released on-scene. Along with CPD, FBI-Chicago is assisting in the investigation. No further information is available at this time.”

Fairmont Chicago hotel spokesperson Haley Robles told WGN that staff “acted immediately to clean and sanitize the area, ensuring that the event could continue without further incident.”

Delegates from Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, Missouri, and South Dakota are staying in the hotel.

Indiana delegate Tracy Boyd explained that she was notified of a delay in the breakfast due to the event.

“They protected us, of course, and turned it around in minutes,” Boyd stated. “I really do want to give a shout-out to the hotel staff and leadership.”

Last month, pro-Hamas demonstrators released maggots into the Watergate Hotel during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stay. The Palestinian Youth Movement claimed responsibility for the release of the insects.
