Climate Advocacy Groups Launch $55 Million Ad Campaign for Vice President Harris’s Presidential Bid

Advocacy organizations focused on climate issues have announced their plan to inject $55 million into an advertising campaign aimed at supporting Vice President Harris in becoming president. The campaign is a collaborative effort among the League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund, the Environmental Defense Fund Action Votes, and Climate Power Action, in partnership with the Democratic-oriented Future Forward PAC.

The strategic ad placements are targeting pivotal swing states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, including a specific focus on the 2nd Congressional District of Nebraska which allocates its electoral votes individually.

A recent announcement detailed three initial ads of the campaign. The first advertisement emphasizes the goal of strengthening the middle class under Harris’ potential presidency. A second ad aims to highlight the differences between Harris and former President Trump, particularly on matters such as challenging big banks and major oil firms. The final ad promises a significant increase in clean energy production in the U.S. under Harris’ leadership, which would result in reduced electricity costs for consumers.

David Willett, a representative for the League of Conservation Voters, noted that the three ads represent just the beginning of the comprehensive $55 million campaign. More advertisements are expected to roll out in the coming months. Willett did not disclose the financial allocation for each individual ad. The campaign’s strategy includes a mix of broadcast, cable, and online ads, with sites like YouTube being a primary platform for dissemination.
