Noncitizen Receives Primary Ballot

A noncitizen residing in Minnesota revealed he received a primary ballot.

The Minnesota GOP and the Republican National Committee (GOP) have called for an investigation into the matter, describing the incident as “potentially not an isolated” occurrence.

The noncitizen, legally present in Minnesota, reported the situation to the state’s Republican Party.

Minnesota Republican Party Chairman David Hann and RNC election integrity counsel Kevin Cline sent a letter to Minnesota Secretary of State Steven Simon over the issue, calling for an examination of the state’s voter rolls.

“This incident indicates that the system to ensure non-citizens do not vote in elections in Minnesota may be seriously flawed or that the staff charged with ensuring that only eligible voters are registered to vote were negligent in their duties,” the letter read.

“The risk of noncitizens engaging in election activities in Minnesota has never been greater,” Hann and Cline wrote. “Following the passage of HF4-2023, individuals seeking to obtain a Minnesota driver’s license or identification card are no longer required to provide proof of citizenship or lawful presence.”

They added that the situation is a “potentially catastrophic failure of the voter registration system.”

“We demand that you take immediate action to investigate the cause and remedy the situation immediately,” they wrote. “Complete transparency in these processes is the only way to ensure the faith in elections that the people of Minnesota deserve.”

The incident comes as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) signed legislation to provide driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.
