A group of House Republicans removed the Palestinian flags and raised American flags at Union Station following a massive pro-Hamas protest.
The lawmakers gathered around the flags, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Rep. Brandon Williams (R-NY) shared on social media that he “recruited a number of fellow members of Congress” who joined him to restore the three American flags. “God bless you, God bless America,” he said.
“American flags are once again flying over Union Station. We will not let the terrorist mob win,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) wrote on X.
In another video, Rep. Rudy Yakym (R-IN) was seen climbing the flag pole to secure the flag.
Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) said police provided zip ties for the flags.
“Earlier today, terrorist sympathizers tore down the American flags at Union Station, burned them, and raised the Palestinian flag in its place,” Crenshaw wrote on social media. “After votes tonight, a group of members, including many veterans and the Speaker of the House, took our flag back and raised it. Took a while to get it done because the Hamas supporters broke the connections, but DC police helped us out and got us zip ties.”
Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) shared a group photo of the lawmakers who replaced the American flags.
