Californians are outraged as Governor Newsom signed AB 1955 into law, which bans schools from informing parents if their child has a gender transition.
Space X is set to move its headquarters from California to Starbase, TX, where there are no active pieces of legislation that directly attack families and companies.
Musk replied to his previous tweet, clarifying, “I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children.”
Tesla headquarters moved from California to Texas in 2021, leaving its sister companies to follow behind.
Many are less surprised by X’s move, as Elon hinted at his intentions earlier this week when he announced his plans to sublease his 800,000-square-foot building in San Francisco.
Families are frustrated at the signing of AB 1955, which solidifies the state’s role as the parent in California.
Elon’s announcement this afternoon speaks to the pressure many California businesses and families are facing as more and more pieces of legislation are signed into law that goes directly against the desires of the majority of the CA population.
The U.S. Census Bureau identified approximately 818,000 California residents who moved out of state between 2021 and 2022.
Likewise, the California Policy Center recorded at least 237 companies that moved operations out of state since 2005, a number that has only increased since Newsom took office in 2019.
Elon’s decision to move X and Space X to Texas speaks to a greater trend: California is becoming less and less family and business-friendly. Newsom has proven that he will prioritize a leftist agenda at the expense of California residents and businesses who are no longer able to call California home.
