Disney heiress Abigail Disney announced that is withholding donations from PACs supporting the Democratic Party unless Joe Biden drops out of the presidential race.
In a statement to CNBC, Disney said, “I intend to stop any contributions to the party unless and until they replace Biden at the top of the ticket. This is realism, not disrespect. Biden is a good man and has served his country admirably, but the stakes are far too high.”
“If Biden does not step down the Democrats will lose. Of that I am absolutely certain. The consequences for the loss will be genuinely dire.”
Although urging for Biden to drop out, Disney added, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”
A Biden campaign official told Fox News Digital that Disney has not “donated to our campaign this cycle.”
While some public figures have called for Biden to drop out, others have pledged their support to the 81-year-old presidential candidate.
“Yes, he’s fit for office,” Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) said, “None of us are denying Thursday night was a bad performance, it was a bad hit, if you will, on that, but it doesn’t impact what I believe, that he’s delivering.”
“The governors have his back,” Walz added. “A path to victory in November is the number one priority and that’s the number one priority of the president.”
Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA), who has emerged as a possible Biden replacement, told reporters that he would “never” turn his back on Biden.
