The House Judiciary Committee voted to hold President Joe Biden’s ghostwriter, Mark Zwonitzer, in contempt of Congress.
The move comes as Zwonitzer did not comply with subpoenas for documents related to his conversations with Biden.
Biden read aloud to Zwonitzer classified information, Special Counsel Robert Hurt noted in his report.
“Joe Biden shared some of the classified materials, materials he wasn’t allowed to keep, with his ghostwriter, who was writing a book for which he was receiving an eight million dollar advance,” Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said. “All this, and yet Special Counsel Hur declined to prosecute Joe Biden.”
Hur wrote in the report that Zwonitzer stated that “at some point he deleted the audio files subfolder from his laptop and external hard drive. No relevant deleted files were recovered from the laptop. Deleted audio files were recovered from a subfolder on the external hard drive labeled ‘Audio.’”
“Based on the available evidence from the forensic review, we assess that all deleted audio files were recovered from that subfolder. For three of the recovered files, portions of the audio appeared to be missing, and a fourth file appeared to have portions overwritten with a separate recording. These results are possible when forensic tools are used to recover deleted files,” the report explained.
“For each of these four incomplete or overwritten files, Zwonitzer produced his corresponding transcripts to investigators. These notes summarized the content of the conversations, two of which were with Mr. Biden and two of which were with Beau Biden’s doctor.”
The White House revealed in a court filing that the another transcript related to the matter, Biden’s transcript of his interview with Hur, is inaccurate
The filing notes that the transcript contains “minor inconsistencies” and removes “filler words.”
“Aside from minor inconsistencies (such as repeated words or the use of filler words such as ‘um’), the audio recording of the interview accurately reflects the words spoken during the interview,” the filing reads.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said the transcript was “changed in a way to help Biden.”
