The CEO and co-founder of the diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) training company Epoch Education has stated that employees who disagree with the company’s philosophy or refuse to follow its lessons ought to be fired.
Such individuals, according to Dr. Nancy Dome, who leads some of the Epoch Education courses, “do not belong.”
Dole, who called the American flag a sign of “hate,” has been a controversial opponent of those who prioritize equity over equality, claiming that the latter is essential to healthy communities. For instance, she implied in a 2023 LinkedIn post that in the absence of equity, people will be encouraged to turn to committing crimes.
With its services used by many education groups and at least five public school districts, Epoch has established itself as a “national leader” in the field of DEI instruction. According to the organization, one of its goals is to “create an inclusive culture that enables every person to reach his or her full potential.” Epoch’s slogan is “embracing culture, cultivating competence.”
In her book “Let’s Talk About Race,” written in 2022, Dome advised proponents of critical race theory to engage in “compassionate dialogue” in their efforts to persuade skeptics.
“So what happens when you face someone who’s actually resistant, doesn’t believe white privilege or inequity exists?” she wrote. “If someone continues to resist that culture or climate after multiple interruptions, then you know they do not belong.”
Dome went on to say that, “if you continue showing up compassionately to conversations but the other person refuses to give as much as they get, then sometimes that relationship is simply not a worthwhile use of your energy.”
She added that if a team member is not willing to adjust or accept, then the solution or repair may be to remove them from the team.
