DOJ Unit Responding to ‘Hate Crimes’ Tracked Moms for Liberty

A unit within the Department of Justice (DOJ) tracked parental rights group Moms for Liberty in a similar fashion to how it followed the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), according to a report from The Daily Wire.

The outlet obtained emails revealing that the DOJ’s Community Relations Service (CRS) kept tabs on Moms for Liberty as well as the Confederate flag, the swastika, and the KKK.

According to The Daily Wire, the DOJ followed the parental rights group as a means of assessing “school boards considering enacting conservative-leaning education policy,” such as measures against transgenderism.

The CRS unit tracked words such as “bias,” “bullying,” “hate speech,” “klan,” “homophobia,” “islamophobia,” “white supremacy,” “swastika,” “shooting police-involved,” “moms for liberty,” and a variety of other terms.

Last year, Moms for Liberty was branded as a “hate group” and an “antigovernment group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

“Schools, especially, have been on the receiving end of ramped-up and coordinated hard-right attacks, frequently through the guise of ‘parents’ rights’ groups,” the SPLC’s “Year in Hate and Extremism” report asserts.

“These groups were, in part, spurred by the right-wing backlash to COVID-19 public safety measures in schools,” the report says. “But they have grown into an anti-student inclusion movement that targets any inclusive curriculum that contains discussions of race, discrimination and LGBTQ identities.”

The FBI, at the request of Attorney General Merrick Garland, also intimidated parents who spoke against school boards.

“Records obtained by America First Legal (AFL) from the Department of Justice (DOJ) confirm that the infamous October 4, 2021, Garland memorandum was part of the Biden Administration’s ‘all of government’ assault on parents speaking up against critical race theory, mask mandates, and extreme gender indoctrination in public schools,” America First Legal (AFL) wrote in December.
