‘Gotaway’ Migrants Surge 340%

The number of “gotaway” illegal immigrants has surged under the Biden administration by more than 340%.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin obtained Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, which revealed that 670,674 migrants were “gotaways” at the border.

Under the Trump administration, the greatest number of migrant gotaways were in FY 2019, with 151,466. During the Obama administration, the greatest number was 171,663 in FY 2013.

Between FY 2021 and FY 2023, there were more than 1.6 million gotaways.

“For perspective, in the decade of FY 2010 through FY 2020 under both Obama & Trump, CBP recorded over 1.4 million known gotaways,” Melugin wrote on X.

Sources told Fox News that there have been more than 175,000 migrant gotaways thus far in FY 2024.

During the first two weeks of FY 2024, there were more than 18,000 gotaways.

“Over 18K known gotaways in the first 16 days of FY 24. These are individuals whose identities & purpose we do not know. That is why you need every Border Patrol agent to be in the field and on patrol,” U.S. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens said.

Fiscal year 2024 runs from October 2023 through the end of September 2024.
