Conservative group Judicial Watch obtained documents in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request that detail how illegal immigrants are trained on how to vote in U.S. elections.
On April 10, a training event in Washington, DC, discussed voting education for noncitizens.
According to the presentation shown during the event, noncitizens can vote in local elections if they are “18 years old by the next General Election; Maintain residency in the District of Columbia for at least 30 days prior to the election in which you intend to vote; Not claim voting residence or the right to vote in any state, territory, or country; Not been found by a court to be legally incompetent to vote.”
The presentation also explains how noncitizens can register to vote.
Non-U.S. citizens can vote in DC due to an amended code that expands the definition of a qualified elector.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement, “Illegal aliens and noncitizens should not vote in any elections. That Congress allows the votes of citizens to be legally stolen by illegal aliens in our nation’s capital is inexcusable.”
A flyer shared on social media confirms that noncitizens can vote in the District of Columbia.
“Qualified non-citizens DC residents may vote in local elections,” the flyer reads. “Specifically, non-citizen DC residents may vote in elections for Mayor, Attorney General, members of the DC Council, members of the State Board of Education, and Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners. They may also vote on initiative, referendum, recall, and charter amendment measures.”
The flyer adds that noncitizens are unable to participate in federal elections.
Representative August Pfluger (R-TX) shared the flyer on X, writing, “You won’t believe this flyer. The DC government wants noncitizens voting in their elections—including illegal aliens and foreign nationals like Chinese and Russian agents.”
