A Chinese-state-affiliated news agency implored Israel to exercise “restraint” with Iran.
Iran recently launched more than 300 cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones towards Israel. The event marked the first time Iran directly attacked directly rather than using terrorist arms such as Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, or other groups.
According to the Global Times, Chinese “experts” claimed it is “imperative that Israel refrains from taking further provocative actions that could exacerbate the situation and lead to more damage for Iran.”
The outlet also claimed that Iran “acted with restraint” in its attack because the missiles “caused no death in Israel.”
Military spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said the IDF intercepted 99% of the launches, describing the effort as a “very significant strategic success.”
The attack against Israel was a response to a strike against the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
China’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement following Iran’s attack on Israel, “China expresses deep concern over the current escalation and calls on relevant parties to exercise calm and restraint to prevent further escalations. The ongoing situation is the latest spillover of the Gaza conflict,” adding, “China calls on the international community, especially countries with influence, to play a constructive role for the peace and stability of the region.”
American Faith reported that White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby defended President Biden’s record on Iran, despite the fact that they attacked Israel in direct defiance of Biden’s warning.
“Just look at the sanctions we put in place against Iran, look at the resources we put into the region. It’s hard to take a look at what President Biden has done and say that we’ve somehow gone soft on Iran,” he told Fox News host Shannon Bream.
“It was the previous administration that decided to get us out of the Iran deal,” Kirby said. “And now Iran is so much dramatically closer to nuclear weapon capability than they were before Mr. Trump was elected.”
