2024 Masters Tournament Champion Scottie Scheffler Says Victory is ‘Secure on the Cross’

American golfer Scottie Scheffler honored God after claiming another Masters Tournament victory.

Scheffler, who ranks as the number 1 golfer in the world, told reporters that despite his golfing successes, his victory is found in the cross.

Scheffler said that while he desires to win golfing tournaments, his “buddies told me this morning, you know, my victory was secure on the cross, and that’s a pretty special feeling.”

He noted that it “doesn’t matter whether I win this tournament or lose this tournament, my identity is secure forever.”

Scheffler previously said that his faith is the most defining element of his life.

“Where does [golf] fit into defining you as a person?” a reporter asked.

“Golf is a tremendously huge part of my life but it doesn’t define me as a person,” Scheffler said. “It’s just something that I do and I happen to be good at it some weeks.”

When asked what defines him, if not his success at golfing, Scheffler declared, “I’m a faithful guy. I believe in a Creator. I believe in Jesus. Ultimately, I think that’s what defines me the most.”

“I think that what defines me the most is my faith,” he added. “I believe in one Creator, and I’ve been called to come out here, do my best and compete, and glorify God, and that’s pretty much it.”
