In a recent poll conducted by Axios/Ipsos, Latino Americans overwhelmingly indicated a preference for former President Donald Trump over President Biden on the economy and immigration issues.
According to the poll, only 20% of Latinos surveyed believed Biden is good for the U.S. economy, while 42% expressed confidence in Trump’s ability to handle economic matters. Similarly, on immigration, 22% considered Biden favorable compared to 29% who favored Trump.
When it came to crime and public safety, Trump garnered more support from Latinos, with 31% endorsing him on this issue compared to Biden’s 20%.
However, Biden was perceived more positively on certain issues, with 28% of Latinos trusting him more for the health of democracy in the U.S., and 30% favoring him over Trump on abortion issues.
The poll, conducted in partnership with Noticias Telemundo from March 22-28, surveyed 1,012 Latino adults randomly selected via Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel to create a national representative sample.
Neither the Biden nor Trump campaigns immediately responded to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
Trump has emphasized immigration and the economy in his recent campaigns, characterizing the U.S.-Mexico border as a “war zone” in late February. His allies have capitalized on Biden’s perceived weaknesses on immigration with significant ad campaigns, including a digital ad push in battleground states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
In one such ad, Trump’s remarks from a 2015 speech about immigration are featured, with assertions about drug smuggling and crime associated with illegal immigration.
During a recent speech in Michigan, Trump criticized Biden’s handling of immigration, asserting that “under crooked Joe Biden, every state is now a border state.”
