Abdul Malik al-Houthi, the leader of Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement, stated on Thursday that a total of 424 airstrikes conducted by U.S. and British forces have resulted in the deaths of 37 individuals and injuries to 30 others in Yemen.
The strikes, according to al-Houthi, targeted various locations within Yemen. He further highlighted that the Houthi movement, which controls Yemen’s capital and other populous areas, had initiated actions in the Red Sea region. This reportedly prompted retaliatory measures from U.S. and British forces since February.
In a televised address, al-Houthi disclosed that the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea had led to disruptions in international shipping activities. He indicated that the attacks, conducted in solidarity with Palestinians amidst the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants, had targeted approximately 90 ships in the Red Sea. Additionally, drone attacks, as per al-Houthi’s claims, had increased and expanded into other regions.
Al-Houthi emphasized that within a span of one month, 34 attacks had been carried out, employing 125 ballistic missiles and drones.
The disruption caused by the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea has reportedly compelled shipping companies to opt for longer and more costly routes around the southern tip of Africa.

The conflict in Yemen, which has been ongoing for years, continues to witness escalated tensions and violence between various factions, with external actors also becoming increasingly involved in the region’s dynamics.
