Biden Admin to Play Film Calling for Queer Marine Biologists

The Department of the Interior (DOI) is to hold a Transgender Day of Visibility event on April 2, according to a report from The Daily Wire.

The outlet obtained an internal email from the DOI, reading, “Transgender Day of Visibility is an internationally recognized event that is celebrated annually on March 31st to help raise awareness and increase understanding of the challenges, importance and struggles of our transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming communities.”

“The Department will mark this important occasion by showing a short documentary called ‘Diving for Rays: A Queer Conservationist’s Story.”

A description of the film reads, “After realizing the lack of LGBTQ+ visibility in marine science led her to abandon her childhood dream, Nicole Morris decided to re-route her life path to try and become a marine biologist, to conserve endangered rays. Diving for Rays follows the story of Nicole Morris, who since she was young has aspired to be a marine conservationist. Growing up in San Diego, she spent her childhood among the creatures of the sea – her favorite being rays.”

The movie screening follows the Biden administration marking March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility.

“On Transgender Day of Visibility, we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect Union — where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives,” a statement released by the White House read

“Today, we send a message to all transgender Americans:  You are loved.  You are heard.  You are understood.  You belong.  You are America, and my entire Administration and I have your back,” it continued. “NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility.”
