20,000 Migrants Arrived in U.K. Since July

More than 20,000 migrants have entered the United Kingdom since the July election, according to an analysis obtained by Sky News and The Guardian.

A total of 20,110 people have arrived since the Labour Party came into power. The number of crossings is 15% greater than in the same period last year.

Throughout the entire year, more than 33,000 migrants have crossed the Channel.

Sky News explained that Labour sources said the 13,574 crossing between January and July 2024 were “unpredicted.” One source blamed “weather” for the migrant increase.

“Of course, the weather has played a significant part in the numbers, but we cannot stay in the position we’ve been in for the last six years where the security of our borders is left to the mercy of either the weather or the smuggling gangs,” the source said.

The outlet noted that the source said that “26 out of the 31 days were classified as ‘likely’ to see Channel crossings, while there were just three in the same period in 2023, meaning 6,288 people crossed this year during those dates compared with 768 last year.”
