President Joe Biden’s lax approach to stemming the tide of illegal migration, epitomized by his “open border” policy, underscores the urgency felt by many. Hundreds convened across three states along the border, spearheading the cross-country “Take Our Border Back” convoy from Virginia to Texas last week, as reported by NBC News.
The Texas rally convened at the Cornerstone Children’s Ranch near Quemado, just 20 miles outside Eagle Pass, a hotspot for illegal crossings. “The mission here is the border, that’s what we’re here for,” emphasized speaker Trenis Evans at the Quemado gathering.
Numerous factors fuel concerns over the turmoil unfolding along this stretch of the border. While some seek refuge from oppression and hardship, there’s a troubling influx of cartel members capitalizing on the opportunity to peddle deadly substances like fentanyl to a burgeoning U.S. market, exacerbating the overdose crisis.
In San Ysidro, California, rally organizer Scotty Saks labeled the border situation “a national security crisis,” a sentiment echoed by many. “We have a human trafficking problem on the border in proportions that we’ve never imagined,” Saks emphasized during his address to roughly 200 attendees, per a New York Post report.
Simultaneously, tensions between Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) and the Biden administration escalated, centering on enforcement measures and jurisdictional authority. While the administration restricts Abbott’s actions to address the crisis, it remains largely inactive in resolving the issue.
Increasingly, it appears President Biden’s policies deliberately sustain an open border, fostering a surge of illegal immigration aimed at altering the country’s demographics favorably for Democrats.
