15-Year Low: Biden’s Approval Sinks Further, Lowest Rating In Career

Survey results released on Sunday revealed that Biden faces a significant drop in approval ratings, hitting a record low of 33%. It was conducted from January 4-8 with a total of 2,228 adults, and the answers painted quite the egregious scenario for the incumbent president as he approaches reelection in less than ten months.

Biden’s current abysmal approval ratings are trailing far behind former President Donald Trump’s worst figures, marking the lowest during his entire tenure. They have fallen below Trump’s lowest recorded approval rating of 36%. This dip in approval also places Biden in a position we haven’t seen since George W. Bush’s presidency in 2006-2008.

Although Biden recorded a 52% approval rating in April 2021, he has been caught in a downward spiral since June 2021. Biden has consistently experienced net disapproval, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average. In contrast, Trump, most likely to be Biden’s general election opponent in November, currently holds a 41% approval rating and a 53% disapproval rating.

At the same point in their presidencies, Trump had a 44% approval rating, while Biden is working with that pitiful 33%. The White House and Biden’s campaign, of course, want to downplay the significance of these polls. However, multiple surveys indicate the president is trailing Trump in key swing states.

It’s important to note that these figures reveal a notable shift in public sentiment, posing challenges for Biden’s reelection prospects. Now, he will have to try to navigate these hurdles and address the concerns contributing to his declining approval.
