Fauci Now Using Private Security

Former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci is now using private security, The Daily Mail reported.

Private security is a shift from his previous taxpayer-funded security detail.

When the outlet asked the U.S. Marshals Service about the development, USMS said, “The USMS does not disclose information regarding threats that involve protected persons.”

“A signed memorandum of understanding and reimbursable agreement between the Department of Health and Human Services and USMS regarding the detail have concluded,” the USMS spokesperson added.

Referring to upcoming Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) efforts, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) told the outlet, “I think we need to look at all security details,” adding that it makes “no sense” for Fauci to have the degree of security.

Before utilizing a private security detail, $15 million taxpayer-funded dollars went to Fauci’s security. Protection was available between January 2, 2023, and September 30, 2024.

The arrangement was discovered in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

“This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sets forth the understanding of the obligations and goals of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the United States Marshals Service (USMS) relating to protective services for Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases prior to and after his retirement from federal service,” the document says.

It adds that the MOU “may be extended or renewed for future fiscal years by the mutual, written consent of both parties.”
